Minor  
 
1.  To complete a Minor in African and African American Studies, a student should take
a. Required: HIST 3334 The Africans in the Diaspora (Prerequisite: HIST 1110) 3 Hours
b. One course from the list of “African Studies Courses” 3 Hours
c. One course from the list of “African American Studies Courses” 3 Hours
d. Two additional courses from anywhere in the lists (see below), or from appropriate African language courses, special topics courses, directed studies, or study abroad courses, which must be approved by the faculty advisor. 6 Hours
Total Number of Hours 15 Hours
 
2.  In selecting the courses, students are strongly advised to seek the help of their advisor, or the Coordinator of the African Diaspora Studies Major.
 
3.  Students may not take more than one Minor course in their major field, and not more than two Minor courses in any one discipline. Only one directed study may be used in the Minor.
